My Passion Project

November 21, 2017

"A passion project is something you work on (often outside of your chosen career path) that gives you satisfaction, happiness and puts you into a state of flow. It's what you do to escape it all. Its your tiny (or huge) contribution to the world."

I have just started my third business and this one is a passion project, something completely different to the work I do everyday at Gram Consulting Group and Coaching Consulting International.

I have been secretly searching for the perfect super high quality ‘last forever’ long silk dressing gown for over 25 years !!! (we all have our thing!) and finally, when in Hong Kong in March this year, I decided to get one made.

It was really beautiful and made me happy.

I thought no more about it as it sat hanging in my bedroom for a month or so on a padded coat hanger.  This beautiful silk dressing gown soon attracted attention and friends kept asking me to make them one.

A total of 20 friends!

From those requests the idea emerged? Maybe I could make these beautiful silk dressing gowns in individually chosen designs and sell them…….and so the  "Princess Madge"  label was born.

By September I was choosing designs, fabrics, a manufacturer, negotiating pricing and building the foundations for this new venture.

On November 18th  the website went live. www.princessmadge.com

This project, my passion project, has given me energy, it’s fired up my creative juices, it has pushed me out of my comfort zone and it’s something completely different. I am learning every single day.

I’d love to hear from you all about passion projects. Are they the new hobby? What’s your experience?
